Halo

Halos are rings of light that can encircle the sun or the moon, and they usually occur when a thin layer of cirrus clouds are present in the sky. Usually this means that there will be rainy days ahead.

Fortress park

I was visiting the Fortress park in Reposaari, Pori. You can find 60 years old cannon stations, bunkers, dugouts and a tower. It's hard to think that in this peaceful place in the forest men have maybe fought for their lives. I step over a stone and can't stop the thought of dead bodies and blood on the ground.

Two Different Worlds

I feel so thoughtful near water. I feel like I'm on the edge of two different worlds and it bothers me that I cannot be part of the other, not really.
Water can be so many things... Calm or fierce, helpful or dangerous. Water can either heal or destroy. It has a voice of it's own and it can speak it with a whisper or with a roar. You can stare the waves for ever and still each wave is different every time. Or you can listen the river for ages and it's always telling you a new story. And the scent of the sea or river or lake or brackish water... Water can be so many things but still it is the same.

Some of Pori's Lighthouses: Kallo and Reposaari

 We visit the Kallo island (means Skull) where the lighthouse has stood over a hundred years. It is quite small and not the most beutiful of lighthouses, but still the most photographed one in Finland, propably because of the nearby parking lot.

 Reposaari ('foxisland') has also a small lighthouse. This is the place where largest amounts of herring is unloaded around the Gulf of Bothnia and also it is the biggest fishingport in Finland.

At summertime about twenty fishing vessels keep the Reposaari fishingport as their home port and in wintertime the number douples, when the Bay of Bothnia freezes. There is big brakwaters shielding the port and in mild winters the port usually stays melted.
